Why can you get this error?
This error can occur when the operating system looks for data in system memory which can not be accessed. The data, though, is still in memory but can not be paged out to the hard disk. That is why the system faults generating this error message.
This crash can happen for various reasons - faulty hardware, buggy software (mainly security software), or damaged NTFS or FAT volume.
What needs to be done?
In 90% of the cases this is caused by faulty memory. To find out if this is the case either replace your memory stick(s) - the short route, or run a memory test. To run a memory test, you need to get hold of memtest86, whist is the best software for memory diagnostics.
If this does not work, try and recall if you have installed new hardware recently. If so remove it and see if this will rectify the problem.
If this has been caused by a driver or a buggy service you need to press F8 at the character mode menu and select "Last Known Good Configuration".
The next step, if the above tips did not work, is to run check disk. Boot to your Windows CD, select "Repair" and run "chkdsk/r" at the command prompt.
Finally, as a last resort, you need to check the Event Viewer in order to pinpoint the problem.
