Tennis is one of the most popular sports in the world. Players like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have taken tennis to levels that the world has never seen before. As the world watched while Federer won his 15th Grand Slam title at Wimbledon, it was amazing to see what can be achieved with such a high level of commitment to excellence in the sport. Federer and Nadal are truly examples to us all of what it takes to be a champion. You have to strive to be perfect in all aspects of the game. They are both capable of incredibly displays of power followed by extremely graceful ball handling and volleying. If you want to be able to perform at this level, not only does it require a commitment to long hours of proper training, you also need to pay close attention to your nutrition habits. There is a lot of advice circulating about proper nutrition for tennis players. Here are a few tips that work.

There are basic eating habits that too many people overlook. Even professional athletes sometimes will neglect the basic nutrition that comes from eating lots of different kinds of vegetables and fruit every day. You just can’t replace the wide array of health benefits that come from this simple practice. Add to it sources of lean protein and lowfat dairy and your body will be in good shape. You also need to avoid too much sugar, however, if you want to make your eating habits as beneficial as possible.

Add to a good daily diet the habit of taking healthy supplements, and you’ll be in great shape to play at your top level. There are a couple of supplements that tennis players can universally benefit from.

Remember when Mom used to give you a kids multivitamin that tasted like gummy bears? Whether or not she did, this is a good habit for anyone who is serious about taking care of their body. You basically can’t go wrong with a multivitamin, it covers the nutrition gaps that will occur in even the healthiest of natural diets out there.

Tennis is very physically demanding. The endurance required to chase the ball throughout the match draws on different muscles than the power required to serve and spike the ball well. If you want to play aggressive tennis like Federer or Nadal, you need to look into creatine supplements.

Most people don’t get enough creatine naturally. It can be found in meat, but the quantity per unit weight is sorely deficient if you want to saturate your muscles with creatine to get the most benefit out of it. Muscles contract and will often be depleted of creatine within the first few seconds of contraction unless there is a richer supply available. By taking 15 grams of creatine per day, you’ll ensure that your muscles will never be deficient of the power that they need to work well for extended periods of time throughout the match.

Don’t go out on the court unless you’re prepared. Your body should be well nourished with a good healthy diet and strategic supplements if you want to compete with the best of the best.
